Paulo Parks
Teacher Fátima Silva
São Paulo is the largest city in Brazil and South America. There are 16 big parks in São Paulo where you can find green areas, birds, tracks, ecological reserves and, of course, where we can practice our favorite sport: “soccer”.
We chose three different types of parks to show you:
- Ibirapuera Park
- Água Branca Park
- Butantã Institute
Ibirapuera Park:
Inaugurated in 1954, this is the most popular leisure area in São Paulo. With 1.5 million square meters, it has paths for walking and jogging, bikeways, beautiful lakes and nice sport courts. It receives up to 150 thousand people on weekends that can also visit the Modern Art museum and the Oca exhibit pavillion located in the park. For sure, this is one of the best places for relaxation in the city! |

Água Branca Park:
Inaugurated in 1928 and with 120.000 square meters, Park Doutor Fernando Costa or Água Branca Park is a good alternative for relaxation both for kids and adults. With its permanent animal exhibition, it’s a nice place to be visited by kids who can be closer to ducks, chickens, cows, horses, fishes and ostriches. Two other important cultural attractions located in the park are: “Casa do Caboclo” and the Geological Museum. For those who love animals, this is a good alternative of entertainment when visiting São Paulo!

Butantã Institute:
Inaugurated in 1901, the Institute has one of the largest collections of snakes, lizards, scorpions and spiders in the world. Visitors can see thousands of species held in glass cages as well as in open-air pits. The Institute, that is an important research and production center for vaccines, has a fantastic history museum where visitors can find lots of information. Apart from snakes, lizards, scorpions, etc. the Institute has a fantastic green area where people can relax and enjoy life!
