Centro Britânico - São Paulo, Brazil
The City of São Paulo São Paulo is the most important city of Brazil. It’s an urban center, just like New York or London. It’s located in the Southeast region of Brazil with a population of 10 million people.
The weather in this city is crazy and unstable. For example, in one day it’s raining and in the next the bright and shunning sun comes out.
People are a little bit stressed. We think it is because of the rush hour, like when it’s six o’clock in the afternoon and the traffic goes pretty slow and lazy on the streets. But it happens, just like in all big cities. São Paulo is the 5th biggest city in the world and people are getting crazier and crazier and stranger and stranger about time, money and other stupid things for us, students of Centro Britânico. But it’s the consequence of the modern world.
São Paulo is a really beautiful city. It has a lot of places to go and it is the most important business city in Brazil.
Since the city is an industrial one, it is very polluted too. But to put an end on this, the government has created a lot of landscaped parks that have many places to go jogging and to play ball games. This initiative is very nice because the city gets better and people here can go to many different places. This is the city where you can find many cultures and many different people. We coexist with different kinds of people from around the world here such as black, white, Japanese, Portuguese and many other kinds of people. This thing is very interesting because we know new cultures and learn a lot more.
That is one of the reasons why São Paulo is a very interesting place to visit, since we are able to appreciate the different cultures that the city offers and to get more knowledge.
If you want something for every kind of culture and every kind of stuff, you will find it at “25 de Março” Street in the downtown of the city. There are all kinds of stuff: CD’s, books, necklaces, clothes and stores that sell everything from everywhere.
But if you want something from Japan, you have to go to “Liberdade” Street. There you will find many stores and a small fair with many cute and cheap things to buy.
Another good place for shopping, if you want something special, like necklaces, wrist bands, earrings, rock bands T-shirts, bracelets and etc… is the Rock Gallery, also located in the downtown of the city. If you are gothic, punk, or something like it, this is the right place for you. The Rock Gallery is the best place to get to know something about the gothic and punk culture.
The culture life in São Paulo is very important. The city has many good theaters spread everywhere, like “Tuca”, “Santa Cruz Theater”, “Olympia”, etc… theaters that show very good presentations.
Another type of theater in the city is “Sala São Paulo”. This is a very famous classic concerts room because it was a train station in 1925. The remodeling took 18 months and today this is a theater that shows many concerts of many places in the world. Basically, São Paulo has bad and good things, like any other place or even person in the world. But it is a very nice city, with lots of interesting things to do and places to go. So you, visitor, is able and welcome to visit us and get more knowledge and experience and more, have a lot of
fun.
