Portage County Fair

The Rosholt Fair first began in the year of 1921. It fstarted when the local organizations held a picnic at the Hill Park. Later the picnic was named the Farmers – Merchants picnic and it was held on Labor Day. It is now called the Official Portage County Fair. The fair is a youth fair. Youth from the 4H club and the Future Farmers of America exhibits animals they have raised. At the fair a big attraction is the Pioneer Museum. The Rosholt Fair has many cool things. Our Labor Day fair is held for 4 days. Some of the highlights are the parade which has up to 50 floats and features the Rosholt High School marching band. The fair also has music, stage shows, animals market sale, demolition derby, and a Labor Day 5k run. They also have a youth baseball team tournaments. Some of the food at the fair is hot dogs, ice cream bars, hamburgers, pie, elephant ears, monkey tails, cream puffs, candy, slushes, french fries, pickles, soda, corn dogs, cheese curds, and chinese food, and also a chicken dinner. The rides at the fair are the Ferris Wheel, Merry go round, Kitty Cars,  Tiltawhirl, Fairy Dragon, Scrambler, Round up, Octopus, Rock-o-planes.
