Malcolm Rosholt is a famous author and historian. He was born in Rosholt, Wisconsin in 1907. He was the grandson of J.G. Rosholt, the man who founded Rosholt. In 1933 Malcolm married his wife Margaret. After their marriage, they left almost immediately to live and work in Shanghai, China where daughter Renee Mei-Fei was born in 1936. Malcolm Rosholt wrote 25 books. He had a fascinating life. He lived in China for six years between 1931 and 1937 where he became the editor of an English language newspaper. Rosholt also covered the Japanese invasion of 1932 and 1937. In 1935 he made a trip through the Gobi desert. He served the United States during World War II as an officer in combat intelligence in China. When he returned to the United States in 1939, he wrote about his war experiences.. In 1943, he again returned to China and spent two years as the liaison officer for Major General Claire Chennault, commander of the famous Flying Tigers. He ran for Congress in 1952 and lost. He continued to write books about the history of Central Wisconsin. He created the Pioneer Museum in Rosholt and served as its curator for 43 years. His wife Margaret taught English and was the librarian at the Rosholt High School for many years. Malcolm Rosholt died on Sunday February 21,2005. He was 97 when he died.
