NEWSLETTER -
Volume 18 - January 2006
=====================================

Happy New Year everyone!

We hope your new year brings joy to you and your loved ones!

We have some news to share with you below:

Several classrooms from Sao Paulo SP in Brazil have sent in wonderful reports to City Quest! You can read their reports by going to our Participants section and scrolling down to the green section. That is where you can click on a link that takes you to their section of City Quest. Or, simply click here. Enjoy reading about Sao Paulo!

Another addition is a report from Cannelton Elementary students in Cannelton, Indiana about a special tree growing there. It called a "Moon Tree".
The Moon trees were grown from seeds taken to the Moon and back on Apollo 14! To read about them, go to their website entitled "Our Wonderful Moon Tree".  GREAT News! Cannelton and its Moon Tree was featured on a BBC newscast in July about the search for all of the Moon Trees. You can read about this at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4694361.stm
Also, the upcoming February 2006 issue of Classroom Connect will feature an interview with Joan Goble, teacher at Cannelton, about their Moon Tree project.

We have many wonderful reports turned in by many schools published on our site. You can read about such places as Indianapolis - Indiana USA, Haarlem in The Netherlands, Bandung in Indonesia, Geneva in Switzerland, and many many more! Visit our Participants/Reports page and enjoy taking our City Quest!

If any of you past participants have any new reports to add to your page on CQ, just drop us a line here and we will be sure to add your new report to your section of City Quest.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you with your students' reports.

It has been a year now since the devastating tsunami hit.  Relief efforts are still going on. Other terrible disasters and diseases are threatening to take the lives of children across the world. We have found that a great place to go to to help is UNICEF: http://www.unicef.org/
Please visit it and see how you can make a difference.
Many schools have fundraisers to help children who are victims of these disasters, and they are saving lives.

Communities around the world are celebrating this new year. Celebrations can vary according to customs of the community. We would love to hear how your community is celebrating. Please send in a report about this to us at: cq@digitalschool.nl
We will make a special page when we have enough reports. Thank you for sharing!

The Ukunda Project, which we have told you about in the past, has a new name now. It is called the Foundation Ukunda Schools Project .
The main goal of Ukunda Project is to raise funds to help the very poor schools in Kenya. Your school can help too! Visit Ukunda Project's website to see how. This project was started by Rene de Vries and his family. Rene is a cohost of City Quest.

We believe that your city, town, or village is special and we want to help you tell others about how special it is to you and why. Please e-mail us if you have any questions or concerns.
