Tourist Office Reports:
Parks
and Gardens Lausanne
is a city in Switzerland because of the Cathedral and the University.
This city features a lot of parks and Gardens. They have a lot of
vegetation. The parks are great for sight seeing and also for a great
exercise! The city rises over 600m high. There are several parks in
Lausanne and the most popular are: Sauvabelin, Cret de Montriond,
Jean-Jacques-Mercier Promenade, the Olympic Park and the Esplanade de
Montbenon. The
parks and the gardens have big views to the mountains or to the lake. In
Mediaeval times (Middle Ages) the tight dwellings of Lausanne’s city
left little room for vegetation. Except for the Madeleine Square and the
Cathedral terrace, vegetable gardens and vineyards were moved outside
the city walls. The parks and gardens were created in 1956 and they
continue to be responsible for keeping Lausanne’s awesome green
heritage.
