Hiyoshi
Community Center

Hiyoshi Community Center was built in July 31st , 1985. After Hiyoshi first school (Our school was combined Hiyoshi First School and Hiyoshi Second School in 1993.) had broken in 1983, the site of the base was converted into Hiyoshi Community Center.
The Center has ten rooms, the lobby and the multipurpose hall. We went to there and found many things, interviewed many people, got many ideas in shape, talked each other, and made a big map.
The rooms are used for meetings, lectures, exercises and so on. When we went to there, many women were doing aerobics and old men were practicing calligraphy. We interviewed one of the woman about the aerobics. She said that she comes to here three times a week. She is exercising for her
health.

We found many old things in this center. For example, there is a taiko (Japanese drum), the fire signal designed pole which was used in old time in Japan, an old map of Hosokute
(Edo period), the box for a questionnaire survey, a wheelchair, canes for old persons,
books, frames painted about this region, and many important things of Hiyoshi.
The Bon Odori (Bon Odori is a kind of Japanese traditional festival. Almost all the people in Japan dance in night about August 14th or 15th.) in Hiyoshi is held in here every
year. Bon dance is held in each region in Hiyoshi, but the main dance is held in
here. Many of us have been to there and we have danced many times. Hundreds of people come to there and enjoy the
dance. There are many street stalls of goheimochi(It's an old fashioned Japanese confectionery of this
region), a small fishing place for children, many of us fished goldfish in
there, went balloon-fishing, et cetera. We all liked this festival.

In October, the cultural festival is held every year. All students in our school and many person lives in Hiyoshi exhibit many arts and
works. The bazaar in there is for welfare. There is a noodle and dumpling stand, a china
stall, a vegetable stall, and several other stalls. Many people in Hiyoshi come here at that time and look at the
works.
